BILL KLYSH (Photo Credit: Lisa Waldner) Bill Klysh is a prolific songwriter who performs acoustic pop music with energy and enthusiasm. While he dabbles in different styles, his major influences are melodic bands such as the Beatles, Crowded House, Fleetwood Mac, INXS, the Eagles, U2 and Squeeze. He has been writing and performing original music for 20 years. He played bass guitar for Winnipeg bands Lesterhazy and the Meaning of Fish before going solo. His first CD "The Linus Lock", was completed in 2003 and featured ten songs recorded in a full band format with drummer Aaron Smith and producer/guitar player Lloyd Peterson. Having accomplished a life-long goal of recording a pop rock album, Bill took a few years off to raise a family before rejoining the Winnipeg music scene in the fall of 2007. He spent the next 18 months gaining new performance skills and experience as a solo act and writing the material which would be the basis of his new CD "In From The Cold" which will be released in November of 2009 at the West End Cultural Centre. The album was recorded and mixed by Lloyd Peterson at Wonder Dog Recording Studios in Winnipeg between May and September 2009. The title, "In From The Cold", represents a new discovery of purpose in music as well as the lessons and values gained by emerging stronger from life experiences. The 14 songs were selected to provide a range of dynamics and styles while also being suitable for solo live performance as required. Bill performed all vocal, bass guitar and acoustic guitar parts on the album. Additional parts were added on various songs by Brad Friesen (drums, percussion), Lloyd Peterson (electric guitar, keyboard), Aaron Smith (drums), Natalie Bohrn (upright bass) and Rick Boughton (trumpet). "In From The Cold" has a pop sound that is simple, honest, natural and heartfelt, with many hooks provided by the musical performances and the strong harmony vocals. Bill is looking forward to performing "In From The Cold" live in 2009 and 2010, both solo and with other musicians while continuing to pursue the goal of one day writing the perfect pop song.
