The Paegan Sunflowers is a two-piece ensemble consisting of members Jordan Tschmier and Maciej Haczkur.
Formed in the summer of 2007, the duo has has built up a repertoire of over 20 songs and has been playing to appreciative audiences at open mics around Winnipeg. Beautiful harmonies and tight arrangements are quickly becoming a Paegan Sunflower trademark and are reminiscent of the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young days of old!
In the studio, Jordan and Maciej like to experiment with different instruments and styles and are in constant pursuit of new and unique sounds. Their debut album is nearing completion and is set for release this spring with a second CD to follow later in the year.

So if you've ever been to a rural Manitoba town on the May long weekend you'll understand how rare a meeting of two random dreamers is. And we're talking small town. Maybe 1000 people. Rheanna and Lorrie met in this small town after living their lives completely unaware of several near meetings in the past. They almost didn't meet this night either. But that's another story. For now we'll just leave it 'as life would have it...'
Rheanna first picked up a bass guitar when she was in grade 4. Her dad's dream was to have a family band. Luckily all the kids were musical. Playing just for fun over the years, the band slowly became just the kids creating music together in the living room of their grandmother's 100 year old farmhouse plastered with Life magazine covers and cords all over the green shag carpeted floor. As 'behind the creaking door' they experimented and developed their own styles, played some shows and received the local support of a pirate radio station (now defunct RadioFreeDauphin.com) who championed their music. It took 10 more years after first starting with the bass and a bus ride to Toronto and back for her to decide music was it for her. Her first song, "Paris", followed shortly after. Long bus rides can change your life…
Lorrie has joined Rheanna on her musical journey adding beautiful harmonies, percussion and occasionally flute. Rheanna and Lorrie are RyeLee. Acoustic folkish pop. Songs of aching sadness, longing and a glimmer of hope. RyeLee is 'music with meat on its bones.'
Ryelee will be accompanied by Neil Goebel on cello. Neil has been playing various instruments including bass and banjo for a few years and recently found that the cello is a great way to sound different — not so much a songwriter but more of an accomplice to most anyone who lets him play.
" I mostly play songs that I've never heard... on stage in front of crowds — seems to work better if I don't know what's coming next."
Neil currently plays electric banjo with alt/folk metal/grass sexy/pajamas band Valsuzie www.myspace.com/valsuzie who are working on their debut album.

Squalor was born in Quesnel BC which is a small town whose sole industry is lumber, pulp and paper. Living in Quesnel surrounded by the industry had a lot to do with his political beliefs growing up.
Squalor, played in a punk rock band called The Effigy www.purevolume.com/theeffigy, and put out a split CD with Joey Only www.joeyonly.com www.myspace.com/xjoeyonlyx whose songs were based on things that related directly or indirectly to Quesnel BC.
After the Effigy called it quits, Squalor started travelling — hitchhiking and hopping freight trains with his acoustic guitar and playing songs that mostly related to his life. His influences then were mainly punk rock and good ol' rock and roll, but travelling opened up a world of folk, blues, bluegrass, and country — music which at the time was completely new to him even though some of it dated back to the 1930's.
Squalor continues to hitchhike and train hop across Canada during the summer to shows with nothing more than his dog, his bag and his guitar. He has recently teamed up with a banjo player.
