Four80East is the brainchild of producers Rob DeBoer and Tony Grace, also known internationally for their indie label/production house, Boomtang. Originally conceived in the studio in 1997 as a side project from the more commercial pop music they had been working on, Four80East was born as a small indie release in England later that year, simply entitled The Album. What began as a whim went on to revitalize the Smooth Jazz world the following summer when they broke through in the States with Eastside, a mid-tempo groover that became the seventh most-played track on Contemporary Jazz radio that year.

In early 2000, their follow-up album Nocturnal was released by Higher Octave Music to wide acclaim. This "stylish set of late-night grooves" was listed by JazzTimes magazine as one of the top 50 albums of that year.

Round 3 followed in 2002, and saw the band start to make the transition from studio project to live act. †Four80East made their live debut at the Catalina Island Jazztrax Festival in October of 2003.

En Route was produced over most of 2005 and 2006, as the boys were juggling a variety of other projects, including raising their families (they have five boys between them). With a new label - Native Language Music – behind them, Four80East is back in the saddle!

DR. DAVE TRIO

www.mts.net/~dmcrrea

Dave McCrea – Bass

Dave has been an active member of the Winnipeg music scene for many years playing in community, local and regional rock bands on the “A” circuit.

A founding member of the Big Roll Band, Dave has performed at many clubs, weddings private and corporate functions. He is also an original member of Mike Chiappetta’s Eastwood Gang who perform weekly at the Pony Corral on Grant Ave. Dave’s influences range from the hard rock of the 60's, to the unsung heros of the Motown rhythm sections, to the giants of jazz.

The Dr. Dave trio is his favourite gig - he never argues with the leader. Dave moonlights as a medical scientist and can often be seen on the streets of Ottawa washing the car windows of bureaucrats and begging to get a small research grant.

Grant Jones – Guitar

Grant is a guitarist based in Winnipeg. He has performed in big bands, horn combos, trios and duos and has studied under some of Winnipeg’s best jazz musicians including Stefan Bauer and Marilyn Lerner.

He played at the 2005 Winnipeg Jazz Festival with Jodie Borle and can be seen at many venues in the Winnipeg area including the Current Lounge at the Inn at the Forks and the McNally Robinson bookstore café. His full, rich tone and easy manner have prompted many listeners to nod, smile and say, “Waitress, where the hell is my beer…I ordered it 15 minutes ago!”

Glenn Lambert – Drums

Glenn's love of music and people has encouraged him to remain a staple on the Winnipeg music scene for over thirty years.

Initially a self-taught drummer, first picking up his fathers drumsticks at age 12, he gigged extensively in Winnipeg before continuing his music career in Toronto and studying there with famed Motown drummer/clinician Peter Magadini. Another musical highlight at that time was playing with the renowned Johnny Winter at the Panasonic Tower in Niagara Falls. Prior to this, Glenn was a member, for many years, of the legendary Club Morocco House Band backing up many international acts.

Glenn returned to hometown Winnipeg and his gig at Club Morocco to further his education and raise his family, gigging as well with the Stephan Bauer Quartet, Janice Finlay Group, and the Swing Cats.

WALLE LARSSON

www.wallelarsson.com

Walle Larsson, saxophonist and composer, has been involved in smooth jazz radio for the past ten years. With four CDs to his credit and two more in production Walle balances his time between broadcasting, recording and live performance.

Walle’s first experience with music began, when at seven years old, his Dad brought home an accordion. Although not his instrument of choice it provided a musical base for further explorations on guitar and later the flute. He attended the Brandon University School of Music, Capilano College and the Banff Centre. His teachers have included Jan Kocman (principle flute WSO) and Phil Sobel (sax instructor LA).

As a performer Larsson began his career in Lake Louise Alberta, performing in a trio for several years. Upon returning to Winnipeg he formed his own group and was active doing studio work. He eventually recorded his first solo album in 1990. His group was invited to perform at the Montreal Jazz Festival and to showcase for Capitol Records in New York.

Larsson's second album was recorded in Montreal were he performed and lived on and off for two years. Upon his return to Winnipeg, Larsson began musical studies commuting to Los Angeles. At this time he was invited to perform in Japan. A concert in Tokyo and one at Hanan University followed. Once again back in Winnipeg, Larsson began work on his third album A Breath of Christmas. His last CD entitled A Compilation followed and another release of smooth jazz originals is due out early next year. Walle currently performs in the Winnipeg area. With two young children, travelling has been limited to a few tours per year.

Walle has performed with Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, Kenny Rogers, David Clayton Thomas, The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Liberty Silver and guitarist Brian Hughes. He was a woodwind player for the popular Sesame Street show for ten years.
